Over the span of the last hundred years, utilities have transformed from nationalized “natural monopolies” to de-regulated, privatized, competitive enterprises. Other major changes include stricter environmental regulatory compliances, the incorporation of smart grid technologies, cost pressures from rising input prices, and overcoming the effect of the global economic crisis. HfS Research believes that these challenges can be effectively addressed by adopting strategic outsourcing practices.
Service providers have begun to recognize the importance and the growing unmet requirements from this multi-billion dollar industry and have started to offer industry specific customized solutions that range from traditional BPO processes, IT support and maintenance to high value consulting and advisory services.
