Research Fellow, Human Resources Outsourcing

Keith Strodtman is Research Fellow, HR Strategies for HfS Research, with specific focus on the HR and recruiting services industries and the critical factors that are shaping the future of workforce development in today's environment.

Keith is one of the pioneers of HR outsourcing.  His work in HR services and BPO spans more than two decades.  After years leading HR and BPO services organizations, he has set out to launch his own HR services practice that helps organizations focus innovation and service delivery on the business outcomes that are most important to their customers and users.  HfS Research subscribers and clients will have access to Keith’s industry insights and thought leadership.

The most successful outsourcing or shared service initiatives start with a clear understanding of what maters most to the customer; whether they are employees, managers, executives, third-parties, or others who use the services.  Keith calls “what maters most”; the customer’s desired outcomes.  He uses a proven method to help organizations prioritize their customer’s desired business outcomes, focus improvement and innovation efforts on the most important and unsatisfied outcomes, and; finally, measure the results of their improvement efforts.  The method is equally effective for commercial service providers or internal functional service providers become successful at satisfying their customer’s desired outcomes.

Before joining HfS Research, Keith spent 8 years as the leader of the HR Outsourcing business at Ceridian, one of the largest HR service providers in the world. Prior that he was director of HRO solutions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and was at Fidelity Investments during the launch of their HRO business.

Through the years he has seen many outsourcing models, some more successful than others.  He has been very involved in developing the critical technologies necessary to support these outsourcing models. He was also a buyer of BPO services, successfully partnering with one of the largest Indian firms to move back-office transaction processing offshore.

Keith has spoken at many conferences, participated on industry panels, and written several articles on HRO.  He is a member of the advisory board of HRO Today.  He has also been recognized on HRO Today’s HRO Superstar list several times.

Keith is married and is the proud father of twin daughters.  Outside of work, he enjoys coaching his daughters’ sports teams, traveling with his family, and occasionally helping out on his father’s elk farm.
