Paris-based consulting, technology, and outsourcing firm Capgemini launched a new business intelligence (BI) analytics solution last month dubbed “Elastic Analytics.” The cloud-based offering uses the Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology platform to deliver “Big Data” analytics capabilities to its global clients. All companies considering the potential of Big Data need hardware, software, and service support, which creates an opportunity for large technology firms and startups alike. The competition is varied – from legacy ERP and BI providers and large IT firms to cloud players and boutique specialty firms. What will be interesting to watch is the adoption of different types of Big Data approaches; solutions from legacy providers, successful entrants or services partnerships such as this one, with AWS.
