The Workday Services Value Chain

Software “in the cloud” promises information technology (IT) administrative benefits and timely access to solution innovation, but enterprises must consider the needs of all parties who will be affected with this delivery model for deployments to be successful.

This is particularly true with Workday, a next-generation global human resource and finance platform. The people that need to be addressed and supported in Workday implementations include sponsoring business executives, company IT professionals, and all of the end-users of the application.

The executives need on-going assurances that the decisions to deploy Workday and new updates and modules align with the company’s overall business strategy and changes in the business. The IT department must be aware of the technical implications and integration requirements of the application and its innovations over time. Finally, the end-users must receive all relevant information and support to effectively use the application to achieve the intended benefits.

Enterprises considering Workday should be aware of and address all of these areas to ensure that their deployments are relevant to business conditions. They should also consider if they have the right resourcing strategy to support all constituents.
