Practice Leader
Ramachandran is a Practice Leader at HFS Research, specializing in engineering and manufacturing. With over 27 years of experience, he brings deep expertise at the intersection of core manufacturing and digital technologies. Ram previously held roles in the thought leadership unit at Infosys, IDC Manufacturing Insights, and as a Six Sigma Black Belt in Genpact. He also served at enterprise organizations such as General Electric’s energy business, Hewlett-Packard, and Hindustan Motors.
With early roots as a cell leader in an earthmoving equipment factory, Ram went on to partner with policymakers and the academic community to conduct research projects on Industry 4.0, servitization, reskilling, and future of work topics. He also led large digital transformation programs in product lifecycle management, reliability, and supply chain management at General Electric and Hewlett-Packard.
Ram is a mechanical engineer with a post-graduation in production engineering, an executive MBA (PGPEM) from IIM Bangalore, and a PG certification in Industry 4.0 from IISc Bangalore. He also spent two years as a research student in robotics at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Based in Bangalore, Ram is a LinkedIn Top Voice, frequent blogger, and speaker in industry and academic forums. He has co-authored several books and practises yoga. Notably, UNIDO invited him to talk about Industry 4.0 at its 50th anniversary celebration in Vienna.
