In our recent research Decoding TCS Profitability we observed that the size of and the opportunities for middle layer management roles in TCS is under threat should overall growth slow from its current pace. That specific insight on TCS led us to think bigger and to investigate what might happen for the middle layer in the overall Indian IT services industry. In this paper, we define several possible scenarios for the mix of layers in the Indian IT/BPO services headcount by 2020 and what might be the resultant impact on middle or senior levels of staff.
