On this page, you’ll find a curated collection of key takeaways and analyst insights that capture the spirit and substance of this executive roundtable. We invite you to dive in and experience the bold, unfiltered thinking that defines HFS Research.

Highlights from this executive roundtable

HFS Research and Genpact convened supply chain leaders to examine the shift from reactive planning models to continuous, AI-powered supply networks.

Drawing on insights from the HFS Horizons report, participants discussed how geopolitical uncertainty, tariff volatility, and compressed product lifecycles are exposing the limitations of linear, siloed supply chain models. The conversation focused on how agentic AI and interoperable architectures can help organizations create more adaptive, resilient, and intelligent operations.

Leaders also explored the foundational capabilities required to scale AI successfully across supply chain functions and move beyond isolated pilots toward enterprise-wide transformation.

What we heard

Several key themes emerged during the discussion:

  • Traditional supply chain models are struggling to keep pace with disruption. Leaders agreed that periodic planning cycles and siloed operations are increasingly ineffective in an environment that demands continuous adaptation and rapid decision-making.
  • Agentic AI is creating new opportunities for supply chain intelligence. Participants discussed how autonomous agents can help organizations sense disruptions, rebalance inventory, reroute shipments, and support decision-making in near real time.
  • Interoperability is becoming a strategic requirement. Organizations cannot achieve continuous planning without connected data, integrated processes, and seamless information flow across functions, systems, and partners.
  • Scaling AI requires more than technology. Many enterprises continue to face challenges related to data quality, fragmented processes, and operating models that limit the impact of AI initiatives.
  • The strongest business cases focus on resilience and agility. Leaders highlighted the growing importance of demonstrating how supply chain transformation can improve responsiveness, reduce risk, and create competitive advantage in uncertain market conditions.

Executive interviews: Perspectives that push the conversation further

We captured four dynamic interviews that continue the roundtable’s bold conversation.

Building the foundation for autonomous supply chains

HFS Research Executive Research Leader Ashish Chaturvedi speaks with Christian Eich, Senior Partner, Supply Chain Management at Genpact, about the foundational investments organizations need to make before agentic AI can deliver real value in supply chains.

What makes an always-on supply chain?

HFS Research Executive Research Leader Ashish Chaturvedi speaks with Antonio Lopez, Senior Partner, Supply Chain Management at Genpact, about what truly separates an always-on supply chain from one that simply layers AI onto existing processes.

Why AI supply chain pilots fail to scale

HFS Research Executive Research Leader Ashish Chaturvedi speaks with Walid Hadid, Group Head of Digital and Automation at The Weir Group PLC, about why so many AI initiatives in supply chains never make it beyond the proof-of-concept stage.

Can supply chains ever be truly autonomous?

HFS Research Executive Research Leader Ashish Chaturvedi speaks with Chris Bruce, COO at Saab UK, about the realities of building always-on, autonomous supply chains in the aerospace and defense industry.

What’s next?

As supply chains become increasingly complex and volatile, organizations must move beyond periodic planning cycles and build capabilities that support continuous sensing, decision-making, and adaptation.

HFS is exploring these themes with industry leaders as enterprises evaluate how agentic AI, interoperable networks, and intelligent operations can create more resilient and responsive supply chains. Let’s connect if you’d like to discuss the insights from this roundtable or your organization’s supply chain transformation journey. We’d welcome the conversation.
