As procurement outsourcing services have matured, more organizations are adding distinctive strategic sourcing and tactical purchasing to the scope of their F&A relationships. However, HfS Research clearly differentiates the procurement outsourcing market from the F&A outsourcing market and we’ve included the data as a separate line item for those who see the market as we do.
Finance and Accounting BPO remains a significant segment in the market with an estimated $23.7 billion in annual expenditure in 2012. In comparison, procurement BPO that sits outside F&A multi-process relationships is much smaller – an estimated $877 million in revenues in 2012. However, more than half of all indirect procurement teams reside within the CFO organization and, as such, are frequently included in the scope of F&A contracts.
