This HfS HRO Blueprint Report is the first application of HfS Blueprint methodology on the Human Resources (HR) business function, looking at the foundational supports of the employer/employee relationship: rewards, remuneration, and recognition. In this study, HfS deliberately looked at but also beyond traditional payroll and benefits administration services into newer areas of employee rewards such as health and wellness and social media recognition programs as companies seek innovative and flexible ways to motivate and retain employees.
Of note, in addition to interviewing dozens of buyers and providers of these services globally, where possible HfS spoke with the consumers of these services, actual company employees, to understand their satisfaction with service delivery. In particular, HfS asked about the overall employee experience with rewards and remuneration service provisioning to understand how the services supported day to day productivity and engagement of the workforce overall.
This study showed that many of these fundamental workforce support areas are prime for outsourcing, however the industry is at an inflexion point. Companies that want to differentiate themselves can no longer accept simply not screwing up paying workers, but need to embrace new ways of empowering and engaging them to get them back to the real business of serving the customer. The HRO service providers that have recognized this are the actors that dominate the stage and are in the prime position to take on more higher value BPO work around workforce analytics, planning, sourcing, and development over time as well.
