GCC BS Buster: Are GCCs innovation hubs or nothing but rebranded cost centers?

Global Capability Centers (GCC) are being hailed as drivers of innovation and transformation, but are all such initiatives created equally? Too many organizations fall into the trap of simply rebranding old shared service centers without making meaningful—and necessary—changes. It’s time to turn off the noise and ask the hard question: Are your GCCs truly pushing the boundaries of innovation, or are they just another cost-cutting exercise?

Why this distinction is critical:

For GCCs to deliver real value, enterprises must ensure they are more than just shared service centers with a new name. True GCCs function as innovation hubs focused on transforming the business, not just saving money. Real GCCs succeed by empowering teams, embracing technology, and focusing on strategic value, enabling enterprises to unlock their full potential.
