Accenture’s Acquisition of Agilex is a Vote for Change

On February 9, 2015, Accenture announced the intention to acquire Agilex, a digital solutions provider to U.S. Federal Agencies to tuck into the Accenture Federal Services business. The latest in a string of acquisitions by Accenture, this one shows a move to take digital into arguably the most difficult industry to change — public sector.
 
HfS believes this is an extremely important and positive move for Accenture’s Federal Services unit because:
 
  1. It creates the cornerstone for not just adopting but for successfully selling agile delivery methods into the Federal space.
  2. It adds a deep pocket of onshore Digital talent in a highly contested skills area. 
 
With consumerization and digitization going “full steam ahead,” the Accenture/Agilex combination looks like a move to deliver on the digital transformation roadmaps that are well underway in design in government and healthcare, but less so in terms of development.
