Globally, the health care industry is under enormous pressure to change. It is doing so under intense scrutiny and regulation, and limited resources. Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) NHS Foundation’s deal with Epic and HP is the first example of a significant digital transformation project in the UK NHS. CUH successfully transitioned to an electronic patient records system in October 2014, and is now working with its partners to continue on its journey to an eHospital. The success of the deal so far is largely due to the shared vision of the three parties and a focus on the end customer – the doctors, nurses and patients – when identifying objectives and solution design.
