Wipro Keeps The Mega-Deal Dream Alive

Wipro recently announced its latest win in the Canadian IT services and infrastructure market – a $1.1 Billion strategic alliance with Alberta-based ATCO Ltd. Over a period of 10 years, the service provider will deliver a range of outsourced IT services to ATCO in Canada and Australia. As a part of the deal, Wipro also acquired the IT services business of the Canadian logistics and utilities firm, ATCO I-Tek, for $195 million. As part of the scope of the deal, Wipro will provide infrastructure management, application development and maintenance and asset management, generating roughly $112 million in annual revenues for the company.
 
The last decade has seen only a handful of deals of this scale in the IT services space, particularly in the energy and utilities vertical. The ATCO engagement thus has several implications for the future, both for Wipro and the global IT and business operations market.
