HP Sketches Out A New Identity

The senior leadership of HP recently spent a few days in Las Vegas outlining their vision for the two publicly traded companies it will be split into as of November 2015. For Hewlett Packard Enterprises (HPE), the entity that will comprise their Server, Software, and Services business units, the message was that of one that will be Solutions-led. To strengthen this claim, it was introduced during the opening keynote by the head of services Mike  Nefkens. He detailed HPE’s new go-to-market strategy at the behest of CEO Meg Whitman and did so by weaving in the leadership of the other two business lines. That approach represented a significant shift from the past when go-to-market messaging was detailed by individual business lines and often with the hardware folks on stage first. To the audience of clients and analysts, the message was clear, HPE is capitalizing on the pending split to redefine itself in everyone’s eyes. This HfS report details what changes are coming and if and how HPE is likely to succeed.
