Enterprises must overcome collaboration challenges for strategic cloud success

In our latest Pulse study, we surveyed 510 Global 2000 enterprises to identify the biggest challenges to effective collaboration during cloud transformation initiatives. The findings reveal a range of obstacles, including a lack of data-driven insights, insufficient leadership authority, and a missing hands-on role of GSIs. Addressing these barriers is crucial for enterprises aiming to achieve seamless cloud integration and transformation outcomes. Key analysis on some of the parameters is as follows:

• Data gaps limit performance tracking (43%): The failure of business and IT teams to provide the necessary data for creating performance baselines and hypotheses creates a gap that makes it difficult to track the progress and success of cloud initiatives, limiting the ability to adjust strategies and optimize outcomes. To overcome this, enterprises should prioritize integrating data collection into their cloud strategies, enabling more informed decision-making and ongoing performance measurement.
• Insufficient GSI leadership slows progress (37%): Cloud transformation efforts are hindered by GSIs not taking a leadership role in the design and implementation process. These GSIs often lack direct reporting lines to the executive sponsor, leading to misalignment between strategic goals and execution. To maximize the value of their partnerships, enterprises should ensure that GSIs are fully integrated into the initiative with clear accountability and direct communication with leadership.
• Lack of pilot testing limits scalability (36%): Another key issue is the absence of small-scale experiments before proceeding to full-scale implementation. Without these pilot tests, enterprises risk deploying large-scale changes without validating their assumptions, leading to costly missteps. They should adopt a more iterative approach, using pilot projects to refine strategies before scaling up, ensuring a smoother transition to broader implementation.
