HFS Highlight: Persistent expands its partnership with Dassault Systèmes in Europe

The partnership will benefit the industrial manufacturing clients of Persistent

Persistent Systems has expanded its partnership with Dassault Systèmes to augment its digital transformation capabilities in Northern Europe, bringing Dassault Systèmes 3DEXPERIENCE platform to Persistent’s industrial clients including OEMs and suppliers. The collaboration is expected to bring cost reduction, supplier management streamlining, more business agility, and better insights gathering for future product iterations and customer support.

Persistent and Dassault Systèmes have partnered in the US since 2013, so this collaboration is a big step towards targeting European industrial clients of Persistent.

Industrial clients are on the verge of digital transformation – This partnership can expedite their transformation journey

With the advent of Industry 4.0, industrial enterprises are going through manufacturing transformation across the value chain and facing the need for an integrated manufacturing platform (collaboration for data, process, and people) to support the major value chain activities starting from design, operations, supply chain to after-market services, enabling overall cost efficiency, quality improvement, and increased safety among others. The 3DEXPERIENCE platform is a business experience platform available on-premise or on public or private cloud. The 3DEXPERIENCE portfolio includes CATIA (Digital prototyping analysis and simulation solution), ENOVIA (Product lifecycle management (PLM) solution), and SIMULIA (Simulation application solution), enabling clients to create powerful experiences through advanced 3D design, 3D digital mock-ups, and product lifecycle management (PLM). This platform complements Persistent’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) capabilities across manufacturing industries, developing integrated manufacturing solutions for the clients. Persistent’s capabilities across the manufacturing value chain will be beneficial to contextualize the Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

The collaboration between Persistent and Dassault Systèmes will expedite the design and product innovation journey of industrial clients

Due to an increase in the number of products, product variants, and product customization, industrial enterprises need to decrease the overall development cycle (rapid prototyping and digital simulation for development and testing). So, through this expanded collaboration, Persistent and Dassault Systèmes can provide a foundation for product innovation and development to industrial clients. As the industrial and manufacturing sector often functions in silos, so a digital thread will encourage more collaboration among business functions and a strong data management practice across the organization.

As Persistent Systems is already in the business of digital manufacturing and digital product engineering across industries, this partnership will be beneficial for its European client portfolio. For example, one of its clients will be benefited from this partnership is BanDai. HFS estimates that Persistent currently works with 150 industrial manufacturing clients today.  The expanded partnership rounds our Persistent’s “digital mosaic” approach to crafting domain and sector-specific solution models. The use of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform holds the potential for reduced errors and increased productivity.

Bottom Line: Service providers should be wary of mounting competition as Persistent augments its digital engineering capability and expands its geographic footprint

This announcement expands Persistent’ s industrial focus and supports its stated goal of European expansion. The company has a strong organizational focus to augment its digital engineering capability and this partnership is a step towards that to target the European industrial clients. Leveraging the 3DEXPERIENCE platform along with Persistent’s in-house manufacturing solutions and IBM ELM, it can build a significant client portfolio in Europe across aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, and electronics industries.
