Atos recently signed a strategic partnership with Groupe PSA to build its new integrated SAP S/4 HANA Platform. This program is to build an SAP S/4HANA enterprise platform that integrates the two Opel-Vauxhall and Peugeot-Citroen-DS entities on a joint accounting system. This will help with better end to end efficiency by centralizing functions, improving stock transparency, and increasing maintenance efficiency.
This program is the first phase of a Groupe PSA core system, designed to be run on SAP S/4HANA aiming to increase IT efficiency across the user experience, rationalize systems landscapes, and improve data management.
This is no ordinary SAP upgrade; S/4HANA is significantly different
As predicted, SAP softened its plans to end support for its Business Suite 7 software suite by 2025 and is extending support until the end of 2027, with an optional extended maintenance offering till 2030.
S/4HANA will run exclusively on SAP’s database, HANA. Unlike its previous version which worked with several databases, including Oracle, etc., businesses migrating to the new system will also need to migrate their entire database which makes migration a challenging task. HANA is SAP’s in-memory, column-oriented, relational database management system. Post-migration, firms will have a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system with a new enterprise process model. Nearly everything is changing in S4—from what can you automate to support for IoT—and this technology convergence demands conjoined analysis to deliver useful insight back to the business.
It is time for the firms to assess their situation and build an S/4 HANA migration roadmap
Large SAP implementations have complex environments and it would be unwise to delay migration planning any further. As per SAP, for S/4 HANA migration a business case can take a year, the planning and procurement can take another year, and the migration from one platform to another can take three to four more years. The amount of work for a big (mega) S/4 HANA Migration programs may multiply from the time it starts to the time it gets deployed.
Bottom line: It’s Atos’ first major S/4HANA transformation project in the automotive market. The added complexity of merging two previously separate entities gives Atos an opportunity to become an expert in large end-to-end S/4HANA transformation and integration programs worldwide.
The Atos team consists of more than 12000 SAP experts in over 40 countries and supports more than 3 million SAP end-users in over 90 countries. With 32 years of SAP experience, Atos has gained business insight and technical skills needed for SAP HANA.
